MVP development for founders. Ship the smallest thing that proves the idea.

MVP development is about getting a real first version into users' hands fast, then letting their behavior decide what comes next. We are a small studio that has done exactly that 8 times with our own apps. We scope, design, build and launch your MVP on iOS or the web, and help you find the first users.

The problem

Most first versions are too big.

Founders tend to build everything they can imagine before anyone has used the product. Months pass, the budget shrinks, and the launch is a guess. The fix is not a cheaper developer. It is a smaller first version.

An MVP is not a bad version of your app. It is a complete, polished version of one thing. Users should love that one thing. Everything else can wait until you know it matters.

The process

How we build an MVP, in six steps

  1. Define the one job

What single problem does the app solve, for whom, and how do they solve it today? If we cannot say it in two sentences, it is not ready to build.

  2. Check the market

Who already owns the category in the App Store, what do their reviews complain about, and what do people search for? Competition is usually a good sign: it proves demand.

  3. Cut the scope

Everything that is not the core job goes on a later list. This step saves more money than any hourly rate negotiation.

  4. Prototype before code

A clickable design you can tap through on your phone. Put it in front of five people from the target group. If they get it without explanation, we build.

  5. Build and ship

Native iOS in Swift, or a web app when that fits better. You get TestFlight builds along the way, and we handle App Store submission and review.

  6. Measure and decide

Retention, conversion and what users actually do. The data decides version two, not the original feature list.

Why us

An MVP development company that has been the founder.

Most agencies build apps for others. We have built and launched our own, paid for them ourselves, and lived with the results. That changes the advice you get. We will push back on features that do not earn their place, and we will think about distribution before the first screen is designed.

  • One point of contact who scopes, designs and builds
  • Native iOS or web, chosen for your product, not our convenience
  • App Store launch handled end to end, including review
  • Distribution built in: App Store keywords, a website that can rank, and a plan for the first users

Proof

Two MVPs that became products

Dronk and Bikepacking both started as narrow first versions. Both were launched fast and shaped by how people used them.

  • Own app · iOS · Web

    #1

    Dronk
on the App Store's party game chart the same week it launched. dronkapp.com gets 5,000+ visitors a month in 13 languages on a domain that is only six months old.

  • Own app · iOS

    #1

    Bikepacking
for the keyword "bikepacking" in App Store search, fully organic.

After the MVP

What happens when the MVP works

If the numbers say go, we build version two on the same codebase, grow the app with App Store Optimization and app marketing, or hand it over to your own team. If the numbers say stop, you found out at a fraction of the cost of a full build. Both outcomes are a win compared to guessing.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is MVP development?

MVP stands for minimum viable product: the smallest version of a product that real users can use and that tells you whether the idea works. MVP development is building that first version quickly, launching it and learning from how people use it.

How long does it take to build an MVP?

It depends on scope, which is exactly why scope matters. A focused app with one core experience can often ship in a few months. If the plan says a year, the MVP is probably too big.

How much does MVP development cost?

Less than a full product, by design. We collected published 2026 price ranges on our app development cost page. We give a concrete estimate after a short call about your idea.

Should my MVP be native or cross-platform?

For a consumer app that competes in the App Store, we recommend starting native on iOS. It is usually the fastest way to reach paying users with a polished product. See native vs cross-platform.

Do I need a technical co-founder?

Not to build the first version. Many founders we talk to have domain knowledge and no technical background. What you do need is time to give feedback and a plan for reaching your first users.

Who owns the code and the app?

You do. We recommend the app sits in your own Apple Developer account from day one, so you control the App Store listing, subscriptions and data.
