Architect website design. Let the buildings do the talking.
Our architect website design puts your projects first: large, sharp images that still load fast, short project stories that show how you think, and a restrained design that ages well. Built from Denmark, where architecture and design are part of everyday life.
The problem
Great buildings, weak websites
Architecture firms spend months on a single detail, then put their work on a website built from a generic theme. The images are compressed into mush or take forever to load, the project pages are thumbnails without context and the site looks the same as every other practice in town.
For many clients, your website is the first building of yours they visit. It should feel like one.
Principles
Website design for architects, in five principles
-
The work is the hero
Large, sharp images with generous space around them. The interface steps back so projects can speak, the way a good gallery wall does.
-
Every project tells a story
Brief, site, constraints, idea, result. A few lines of text turn a set of photos into proof of how the practice thinks.
-
Easy to browse by type
Clients look for work like theirs: residential, commercial, public, renovation, interiors. Filtering by type or sector helps them find it quickly.
-
Fast despite heavy images
Architecture sites are image-heavy, which is exactly why so many are slow. Modern image formats, correct sizing and lazy loading keep them quick on a phone.
-
Timeless, not trendy
A practice website should age like a good building. Restrained typography and layout outlive this year's effects.

Beyond portfolio
A portfolio that also brings in clients
Referrals and competitions still bring in much of the work. But private clients, developers and businesses increasingly start with a search, for a type of building, a service or an architect in their area. A portfolio site with a handful of project pages does not show up for those searches.
We plan pages for the services and project types you want more of, written for the way clients search, alongside the portfolio. The design stays calm. The structure does the work.
Danish design
Why a Danish studio for an architecture website
Scandinavian design has a reputation for simplicity, light and materials that feel honest. Those are the qualities most practices want their website to have. We are a small studio in Denmark and work in English with firms in the US, the UK and Europe. Read more about working with a web design agency in Denmark.
Hosting and portfolio updates can be handled month to month through website maintenance, so the site never falls behind your latest work.
Photography
Photography, text and the rest of the site
Nothing lifts an architecture website like strong photography, and nothing drags it down like inconsistent images. We help you choose and order photos so every project page has a clear opening image, a sense of context and the details that show your thinking. Plans, sections and sketches can sit alongside the photos when they tell part of the story.
The text stays short: what the brief was, what you did and why. The about page introduces the people and the way the practice works. Awards, publications and a simple contact page complete the picture, without turning the site into a brochure.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What should an architect website include?
A curated portfolio with project pages, a clear statement of what the practice does and for whom, the people behind it, awards and publications, and an easy way to start a conversation. For firms that want new clients from search, pages for each service and project type as well.
How many projects should we show?
Fewer than most firms think. A dozen strong projects with good photography and a short story each say more than fifty thumbnails. Show the work you want more of.
Can we add new projects ourselves?
Yes, if you want an editor. Many firms prefer to send photos and text and have them added, which is how Caspersen & Krogh Architects works with us through their maintenance agreement.
Will a portfolio website help us win work through Google?
A portfolio alone rarely ranks. Pages built around what clients search for, such as a building type, a service or a location, do. We plan both. For ongoing search work, see SEO for architects.
Do you work with interior designers and landscape architects too?
Yes. The same principles apply to any practice where the visual work is the main argument: interior design, landscape architecture, engineering and design studios.
